Luke's Homepage
BEFORE
You can see Luke's little ridge on the right side of his head where the bones had grown together.  Also, his right eye appears larger because it had been "pushed" out further when his brain was growing and developing against the closed bone above it.  Still a beautiful baby!
AFTER
Almost 4 years later, Luke is doing so well!  He's not had any complications from surgery, and he is very smart!  He may have surgery on his right eye due to some muscle weakness, but it will be minor.  His scar is barely visible!

CRANIOSYNOSTOSIS
Luke was diagnosed with a condition called "Craniosynostosis".  It's where the sutures in his skull grew together in one place already.  They're not supposed to do that yet!  If you look in the picture below, you might see a little ridge over the left side of his head.  That's the spot where it grew together already!  He had surgery on December 17th, 2001, at the Children's Hospital of Austin.  His surgeon was Dr. Ronald Wilson, a Pediatric Neurosurgeon.  To learn more about Craniosynostosis, the surgery, and to see other kids with the condition, click on the logo to the left to visit CAPPS!!
